Models, Make-up Artists, Hair and Fashion Stylists – Adding a photographer to your Cambridge Creative Network
I’m always on the look out for other creatives and to expand my local cambridge creative network. Not that it excludes creatives further afield I should point out.
I have a short list of hairdressers, stylists and models who I occasionally work with. But this year I’d like to expand this list and invite you to work together on a couple of studio and outdoor

Here’s a few fashion photography clothing shots. The brief was to give a fashion catalogue view of the garment and then show some details. Unusually in the brief was that the main image wasn’t to show the whole garment.

Fashion shots like these are regularly used for online fashion stores and clothing catalogues. I also provide fashion photographs and packshots where garments are worn by models or placed on mannequins.

I also provide fashion lifestyle photography showing clothing collections worn in the style and location of your target clients. This ranges from the exclusive location for high class fashions, to the town and country locations of high street names.

Product Photography – A typical project
I know this is peak wedding photography season, but I thought I’d add a product photography entry.
This week I’ve been working with a client to create some photographs for a range of exclusive luxury products. High class goods require high class images. Just look in any of the magazines seen in the first class lounge, the best hotel in town, or the foyer of the offices of major brands.

This project involved firstly creating set of test shot images with a range of lighting and backgrounds to give a selection of images for the client to choose from.
Then with the client, I sat and ran through the images to choose a favoured range of images for the various uses. Brochures, website, magazine adverts etc.

Then the last stage was to photograph the full range of products and select the final images for use in the clients campaign and web site.
This approach I often use with clients as:
- It allows them an opportunity to reduce the risk if they haven’t worked with me before. Test images are usually free of charge. The client only pays for these if they decide to use them.
- It allows a range of test shots, clients receive images in their initial style and a range of other styles if they would like some creative input.
- It gives more choice and ultimately a better final result.
So if you are considering some new or updated product photographs, why not take an opportunity to follow this process and contact me.

Fashion Photography, fashion photography, and fashion photography

Fashion Photography, fashion photography, and fashion photography
My recent experience of fashion photography has triggered me into thinking about how to best to present fashion photo shoots. When clients land on my web site, I have no way of telling which aspects of fashion photography they are looking for. The industry is huge and I can see why my colleagues only focus on niches.
My recent work seems to fit into 3 of the many categories.
- Fashion photography with Models
- Fashion, but really what I would describe as clothing photography
- Fashion photography, but concentrating on the fashion brand
Model Photography
I think this is what most people think of when they talk about a fashion photo shoot. Generally an indoor studio shoot with a model, and make-up artist and stylists along with an art or product director guiding the ‘look’ of the shoot.

Clothing Photography
This varies widely from accessories to full product ranges and the photographs concentrate on the clothing itself and not so much the environment its presented in.

Fashion Brand Photography
These shoots concentrate on associating the brand/label/design with a lifestyle and the emphasis is less on the model and the clothing in detail, but more on associating a lifestyle and getting the brand label and logo in the shot.
These recent shoots are really just the tip of the iceberg and I’ve not mentioned, catwalk fashion photography, catalogue fashion photography, or any number of niches that clients may want fashion photographs. Then there’s the time and place, night fashion photography, location fashion photography….. the list is endless.
I’ve added a fashion photography page, under the commercial photography section of the site where I hope capture more on this subject.
